I want one!

Hey All,
well i thought i had some great skate spots close to my house back in the day, and i did too, plus i built a number of mean ramps and rail set ups in the street out front, but my set ups pale in comparison to Oakley skate monkey Ryan Sheckler's new set up. This indoor skate park is huge, like XXXL tall tee huge. Check out the vid for a look, the mega bank wall is insane, he hits what looks like a basic gap, then the camera angle changes and you see how massive it is. All his own, and this is only a small part of whole park.Mean.

He is ruling it, so you can understand why Oakley gave him his own shades, Check out the new Oakley Sideways Ryan Sheckler Edition, they're actually quite similar to the Shaun White Oakley Montefrio.

On other news, yes the Base Xmas do was kick ass, had the duck for dinner at Missy's Kitchen, mmm so tasty. Then some carnage at Red Rock followed, head was very sore on Saturday.

Hope you've have had some Xmas cheers in your neck of the woods. I'm just getting set for the the Xmas day eat all you can show down. Oh Yeah.
Peace
Matt

Toronto and Flight of the Conchords

Well, i'm sure used to seeing many snowboarding films in epic locations like, Alaska, NZ, Chile, and throughout all the major ski resorts globally. SO, imagine my surprise when I caught a glimpse of Absinthe Films latest release READY, and no joke they were busy jibbing in TORONTO! wooo hoooo!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it, and I was more excited than I ever had been watching any snowboarding DVD. I'm always happy to see NZ making into the DVD's, or rider's I know, or other resorts I've ridden, but my city + snowboarding!?! The cherry on top for me. Don't know much about Ready??? watch this clip (you wont see T.O. but you'll still be stoked!)

The other super fun piece I want to share with you is the news about the return of Flight of the Conchords!!!! Woop Woop!!!! Season 2 is going to start showing in the states and canada in jan on HBO, and if you are lucky enough to being reading this from the states you can watch the first episode online at Funnyordie.com

On Monday it will be available on the HBO sites, but again you can only view it in the country.

So what about us in NZ??? No news yet on the NZ release of Season 2... but according to brett and jermaine, season 2 may be the last.... lets not dwell on that instead i thought i would post a short trailer to keep us entertained...

peace out amy

It's work Xmas Party Time!! Yeah!

Hello there peeps, well it's that time again, the Base work Xmas do is on tonight, and i must say, i am a little excited. This year the boys have splurged a little and we're dining at Missy's Kitchen tonight, anyone who has dined there before will understand my excitement, it really is a mean feed. Add to that the copious amounts of wine, beer and most importantly(thanks Chris) champagne to be consumed. Oh yeah, it will be fun, and just in time too, as town is set to start filling up and getting crazy busy over the next week. A good blow out will get us all ready for the Xmas madness.
And just to keep those of us fighting snow withdrawals happy, i've been getting an eyefull of mack Dawg's new snowboard DVD Double Decade, ahh so good, epic old school footage, you won't beleive how big they went back in the day, plus top notch new school riding from the young guns. Check out the teaser, so sweet.
Have a good weekend people

peace out

Kanye west, Love Lockdown and more

So I totally dig Kanye's tunes and I think his arrogance adds something to his persona, his unapologetic attitude makes me smile.

One of my favourite things about Kanye, is definitely how he announced that ol' W. did not care about black people. Don't know what I'm talking about?? check out this clip:

Okay thats an oldie but a goodie.

I love love love the first single off his album, 808 and heartbreaks, Love Lockdown, but I don't get the video.

what are your thoughts?

I'm converted

Well, i have to confess after years of solid PC use i have made the switch, changed teams if you will, and i'm now rocking the new 15" MacBook Pro. Oh what a piece of kit, so sleek and styley, so powerful. If you're thinking about it, just do it. What does it mean for you guys, well, glad you asked, it means more videos on site, better images, and just more stuff to check out. i've only been on it for a week and my productivity is already way up. The missus aint too fond though, haven't stopped messing around with it since i got my hands on it.
On more relevant news, 09 anon goggles are up on site if you want to check out the new colours, limited stock available until may 09 when the full range drops.

Dubwize - just straight up good reggae/dub/roots music

So one of the things I love so much about NZ (I'm from Canada) is the laid back vibes of what I believe to be distinctly Kiwi music.

There are so many great Kiwi bands that are huge and there are so many hidden gems among them that are just too good and seem like your own special find.

Dubwize is one of those great finds.

While working at Mt Hutt, one of my mates exposed me their music, and then when I moved to Christchurch, I had the chance to listen to their DJ spin live and then see them perform live.

Good summer tunes and just all round good vibes.

Dubwize is playing the Dux de Lux in Queenstown Friday December 5th, I know where I will be, but what about you?

peace out amy :)
